Seyi recently released the remix of his evergreen song, “Love Me Jeje” featuring American RnB singer, K. Michelle. The release of the remix song, which original version was recorded in the late 90s and produced by HKN’s Shizzi, marked the dramatic re-entry of Seyi Sodimu into the nation’s music scene. Surprisingly, Sodimu revealed that, since releasing “Love Me Jeje” remix, a couple of weeks ago, the song has recorded over 90,000 views on YouTube. The Afro soul singer further revealed that “Love Me Jeje” remix is part of other songs that will make up a full album scheduled for release before the end of the year. He, however, explained why he disappeared from the music scene for some years now. According to him, “I travelled to the US in 1985, I was a kid then. I have been doing music behind the scene. But I have been around. I relocated to Nigeria about eight years ago. I sponsored some artistes in Nigeria that you wouldn’t know about. I have been recording, and I’m also into real estate business. I built a school called Hopesville International School in Nigeria about two years ago. But then, I still record music, I have not left music.” Continuing, he added, “As you grow older, your priorities change. When I did ‘Love Me Jeje’, the structure was not there, it wasn’t even profitable at that time. I was in the US when I released that song. I came home and released it here and I went back. Till today, I still get royalties from that song in the US; I can’t say that for Nigeria. You have to do music when you can give it your full attention. For me, music has to be evergreen. You can’t leave music until music leaves you. I try to do what I know how to do best.” Recall that Seyi released his first album, “Born in Afrika” in 1998, which contained the hit songs “Love Me Jeje, and “Love me Tender”. The “Born in Afrika” album was released under Shakara Entertainment. This album topped the charts in Nigeria on Ray Power 100 FM and sold over 30,000 copies in the first couple of weeks of its release. The album also earned him nominations and awards in Nigeria. In 2003, Seyi released a sophomore album, “State of Mind” this time under Goodlife Entertainment.
