Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Saturday pledged his loyalty to a former governor, George Akume, declaring that he (the former governor) remained his political father and mentor.
Ortom said no amount of intimidation and blackmail would separate him from the former senate minority leader, maintaining that God used Akume to make him governor.
He advised those planning to separate him from Akume not to waste their time as he would continue to be answerable to him(Akume), as a father.
Ortom, who stated this while laying the foundation of Josanna College of Education, Agasha, in the Guma Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, stressed that he would continue to follow Akume’s lifestyle of selflessness.
Ortom said, ‘’I may not satisfy the senator in everything that I do, but through tolerance, adjustments could be made. Both of us have been playing complimentary roles and I would always respect Akume as my father and leader.’’
Ortom said he would not form any group different from the one the senator had, adding that Benue would continue to remain his constituency while the All Progressives Congress and Abba Yaro remained his party and party chairman respectively.
Earlier, Akume, had stated that the people of the state did not make a mistake in zoning the governorship position to MINDA because Ortom has done well.
