A Non-Governmental Organisation, Community Health Research Initiative, has demanded Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, to release the outstanding N150m counterpart fund for the 2016 immunisation programme.

The Advocacy Officer of the organisation, Mr. Salisu Yusuf, said this after an analysis of the state’s 2016 health care budget.

He said the call had become necessary as the delay in releasing the outstanding N150m counterpart fund is hindering the routine immunisation programme in the state.

He said, “The money is part of the tripartite agreement between the State Government, Aliko Dangote and Bill Gates, which is aimed at addressing routine immunisation in the state.

“The state government has so far released only N100m out of the N250m the state promised to pay as counterpart fund for the programme this year.

“Kano State, which championed the campaign, is now lagging behind. Look at Kaduna State, which signed the MoU recently, has since paid its share of 100 per cent, amounting to N180m.”

Yusuf said if the money is not released in time, it would adversely affect the exercise in the state.
