Adigun Alapomeji legendary singer 9ice has revealed he will be dropping his eight album titled “GOAT.” This follows seven studio albums including the critically acclaimed and commercially successful 2008 “Gongo Aso”. It’s been a decade now since the ‘Photocopy’ singer dropped since his first album “Certificate” in 2007. ‘TGIF’ is the first single off the coming project 9ice told notjustokTV.
The singer who only recently headlined a special edition of the weekly industry nite shared his early music beginnings, saying he started put singing Fuji music, which is embedded in the Yoruba culture but also known for inciting violence. 9ice disclosed that coming from a polygamous home didn’t even afford his parents to know he was venturing into music, and got by with the help of ID Cabasa and support here and there from family and friends.
He acknowledged the evolution of the music industry in Nigeria aided by internet penetration and how his voice texture changing is part of the game. On the criticism of his song ‘Living things’, 9ice once again confirmed that he wasn’t encouraging fraud but rather hardwork, explaining that the names he called on the song are socialites. “People that I mentioned are socialites, people that have earned a living, and if you have any doubt about what they do for a living, you can call EFCC to interrogate them,” the singer said.
9ice pointed out his most challenging album to be “Tradition” because it followed the highly rated sophomore album “Gongo Aso”, a major highlight of his career he noted. 9ice admitted he doesn’t sign artists but does his bit to shine the light on them when he can. Moving forward with the music, 9ice revealed he and his management outfit Temple are working on holding monthly live band concerts in mainland Ikeja area of Lagos.
